SUBJECT: 82 year old Duluth Woman in critical condition after being struck by vehicle

NATURE OF INCIDENT: Pedestrian Injury Crash
CASE NO.: 09407021
INCIDENT DATE: 11/30/2009
INCIDENT TIME: 1539 hours
INCIDENT LOCATION: 4th Avenue East and Third Street

On Monday, November 30th, 2009 at 3:29 PM, Duluth Police responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of 4th Avenue East and 3rd Street. The victim, 82 year-old Patricia Mary Lenski of Duluth, was crossing 3rd Street when she was struck by a 1996 Honda Odyssey van driven by 51 year-old Mark Charles Danielson of Duluth. Lenski was transported to St Mary's Medical Center where she remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Danielson, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured. Speed and alcohol/drug use were not factors in this crash.
 
The area was very busy with pedestrian and vehicle traffic at the time of the incident and police believe there may be witnesses to the crash that they have not spoken with.  Duluth Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Crash Investigators at (218) 730-5655.
 
The investigation into this incident is on going. Police have no additional information available at this time regarding the crash.
