Traffic Advisory – Gobble Gallop Races
 
On Thursday November 28th, (Thanksgiving Day) the Gobble Gallop Races will be held in Downtown Duluth. The first of three races starts at 09:00 am. All races start and finish on London Road near 13th Avenue East. The race routes run west on London Road, onto Superior Street, to 5th Avenue West and back.
 
London Road will be closed from 10th Avenue East to 13th Avenue East at 07:45 am for Race setup and for the Kid's Race; Superior Street will be closed from 5th Avenue West to 10th Avenue East at 08:45 am.
 
Superior Street east bound traffic will be detoured up to 2nd Street to continue east. West bound traffic will be sent up 10th Ave E to 1st Street to continue west.
 
Lake Avenue will be blocked off at Superior Street. Access to Canal Park, Park Point, and the DECC will be down 5th Avenue West to the connector to Railroad Street, and from the freeway exits onto South Lake Avenue.
 
The MNDOT I-35 South bound detour along London Road will be sent up 14th Avenue East to continue West on 3rd Street to Mesaba Avenue.
 
Downtown traffic should return to normal by approximately 11:30 am.
 
Drivers are urged to use caution when driving in the area of this event.
