The Duluth Fire Department would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues on the passing of Matt Frantz, Rice Lake Fire Department, Fire Chief. The Duluth Fire Department, along with numerous public safety partners, will be assisting the Rice Lake Fire Department in honoring the life and service of Fire Chief Frantz. Chief Frantz's death is being considered a Line of Duty Death and he will receive full fire department honors. A procession of emergency vehicles will be escorting Chief Frantz from Dougherty's Funeral Home on East 2nd Street to St. John's Church in the Woodland neighborhood. The procession will begin at approximately 1500 hours today and proceed on East 2nd Street, 21st Avenue East and Woodland Avenue. You may pay your respects to Chief Frantz anywhere along the route traveled by the procession. As Chief Frantz passes, we ask you remove any headgear you may be wearing to honor his service.
