On Monday, December 23rd, 2013 at 7:18 PM Duluth Police responded to the call of a shooting/armed robbery at ILF Smartphone Clinic, 1709 London Road.
Initial investigation revealed that two white male suspects wearing hoodies and masks entered the business and demanded money. The 27 year old male owner, Colin John Mackin was shot after a struggle with the suspects outside of the business, suffering a single gunshot wound to his right shoulder. The suspects left the store with property and an undisclosed amount of cash and were last seen in a vehicle described as a white late 80’s or early 90’s Oldsmobile, northbound on 17th Avenue East.
The victim was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital with a non-life threatening injury and remains at the hospital in stable condition.
After following several leads Duluth Police arrested both suspects on Tuesday, December 24th, 2013 in the 1800 block of East Second Street. The suspects were identified as Brandon James Tyson, a 29 year old male and Robert William Neft, a 32 year old male, both are residents of Duluth. A .22 caliber revolver was located during the arrests.
Both were transported to the Saint Louis County Jail for Attempted 2nd Degree Homicide and 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery.
