At 2018 hrs. on Saturday, December, 2013, the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a "roof collapse" at 231 E Superior St. Upon arrival, the front awning of the Greysolon Plaza had suffered a partial collapse.
The front of the building was sealed off, and no entry was allowed through the front of the building. A collapse zone was established, and patrons were redirected through the avenue entrance. Crews responded from HQ Fire Station and remained on scene for over 2 hours.
There were no injuries, and building staff worked quickly to ensure no one entered or left the building until our arrival.
The cause and cost of the collapse is unknown at this time.
