 At 06:58 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2013, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1720 Miller Trunk Hwy. Upon arrival, crews found fire coming from the drive-thru area of Wendy's restaurant. Fire had extended to the ceiling of the 1 story restaurant.

 A manager arrived  to open the restaurant for the day and noticed smoke in the entry way. She vacated the building and called 911. The fire was quickly extinguished, and crews remained on scene for over an hour.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, and will be under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's office.

Damage to the structure is estimated at more than $60,000.00 The restaurant remains closed during investigation.

20 firefighters from Downtown, Miller Hill, and West Duluth fire stations responded to this incident.
