Inaugural Zenith Awards Given to St. Lukes, Mark Lambert and UMD
[Duluth, MN] - On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, the City of Duluth and the Duluth Planning Commission recognized St. Luke’s Hospital and the University of Minnesota Duluth and Mark Lambert, developer of Bluestone, with the inaugural Zenith Award for Plan Implementation. This inaugural award honors those who have worked to implement the vision, goals, and recommendations laid out in the City’s land use plans.
In 2012, St. Luke’s Hospital completed the first “District Plan” for an institutional campus and has been implementing the parking lots, pedestrian infrastructure, wayfinding, and placemaking initiatives from that plan.
Mark Lambert and UMD worked collectively on the pedestrian entrance linking the campus to Woodland Avenue. Mr. Lambert’s new development, which includes the Bluestone Shops and Bluestone Lofts, a mixed-use development, was envisioned by the “Higher Education Small Area Plan”. We thank these recipients for their investment and dedication to improving the livability and quality of place within the City of Duluth.
The award recipients were chosen by the Planning Commission. The Commission plans on implementing the Zenith Award on an annual basis.
