Y.W.C.A. Mother’s Day Walk - Run
Saturday, May 10, 2014, 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
On Saturday, May 10th, 2014 at 7:30 a.m., Duluth Police will begin detouring traffic off of Railroad Street and Harbor Drive for the Y.W.C.A. Mother's Day Walk/Run. The event will include a 5K run and a 2 mile walk.
The first race is the 5K and starts at 08:00 am and should be done by 09:00 am. The second is a short 2 mile walk course and starts at 09:30 am.
During each event vehicles can enter onto Railroad Street at Garfield Avenue. However, they will not be allowed past each race turn around points, which will be about 1/2 block before Garfield Ave for the 5K and near the Pedestrian Cross Bridge for the 2 mile walk. There will be no thru traffic on Railroad Street between Garfield Avenue and 5th Ave W. until both events are finished.
Both Run/Walk events begin on Harbor Drive near the Irvin. Participants will run west bound behind the DECC and onto the sidewalk leading into Bayfront Park. They will continue through the Bayfront gravel parking lot to Railroad Street and turn west to a turnaround point, and back the same route to Bayfront Park taking the path behind the stage to finish on Harbor Drive.
The DECC main Railroad Street entrance AND the Harbor Drive entrance/exit (near the Irvin) will remain open. No traffic will be allowed on Harbor Drive south of the Harbor Drive DECC gate.
5th Avenue West will remain open down to the connector to Railroad Street.
5th Avenue West access to the Aquarium lot will be closed at 07:30, but will open at 09:45.
Roads should return to normal traffic flow approximately 11:30 a.m.
If you have any questions call Officer Bill Stovern at 218-730-5678.
