NATURE OF INCIDENT: Duluth Man Arrested for Motor Vehicle Tampering

INCIDENT LOCATION: 2nd Avenue East & 2nd Street

On Monday, May 26th, 2014 at 9:47 PM Duluth Police were called to 2nd Avenue East & 3rd Street on the report of a male suspect that was trying car doors and had just entered a vehicle. Officers arriving in the area found a male matching the suspect’s description at 2nd Avenue East & 2nd Street. 

The suspect was identified as Robert Louis Richey, a 44 year old male resident of Duluth. Officers located a stolen cellphone and bag on Richey.
Robert Richey has the following MN convictions:
2011 – GM Obstructing Legal Process
2011 – Felony Receiving Stolen Property (2 counts)
2010 – Obstructing Legal Process
2009 – Felony Theft of Motor Vehicle
2008 – Felony Theft
2004 – DWI
2003 – Misdemeanor Theft
1997 – Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle
1992 – Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle
1990 – Escape from Custody 
He was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail for Gross Misdemeanor Motor Vehicle Tampering and Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Property.
