Seven Duluth students to be commended for community project
[Duluth, MN] - Mayor Don Ness and the City of Duluth Human Rights Commission will recognize the work of seven dedicated Duluth students with an official Commendation on Thursday, July 24th at 11:00 AM at City Hall (411 West First St.) in the Mayor’s Reception Room, room 405.
During the past two years, a core group of Students For the Future have worked within their school and community to raise awareness about equity, community action, and student involvement. These students produced a video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_fD566dLO8, held a school assembly, had a panel at Citizen’s in Action, and hosted a student forum on safe schools. They have also been active in other community discussions on education in Duluth and it was through their efforts that a national speaker was brought to the Duluth high schools to tackle the topic of bullying.
Students being recognized include: William Menor, Sarah al 'Absi, Erik Thibault, Erik Starkman, Ingrid Holstrom, Mariah Berner (All recent graduates) and Senior Ji-Won Choi.
