INCIDENT LOCATION: 700 block North 9th Avenue East
On Sunday, July 6th, 2014 11:57am Duluth Police were called to a residence in the 700 block of North 9th Avenue East on a medical for an infant female child about 14 months old that was not breathing.
Officers and responding medical staff determined the female infant (DOB: 05/11/2013) was already deceased prior to their arrival. The Saint Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled out any natural causes of death, finding the manner of death was homicide and suffocation was identified as the cause.
Through investigation, Christopher Dennis Peterson, a 30 year old male Duluth resident and father of the victim was formally charged with 2nd Degree Murder - Unintentional.
On Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 at 10:20 am Duluth Police arrested Christopher Peterson in the 100 block of West #1 alley and he was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail.
