NATURE OF INCIDENT: Duluth Man Formally Charged for Burglary & Several Other Charges

INCIDENT LOCATION: 1600 block of East 6th Street

On Saturday, August 3rd, 2014 at 4:55 AM Duluth Police were called to a residence in the 1600 block of East 6th Street on a burglary that had just occurred.

Initial investigation revealed a 28 year old female resident saw someone walk out of a bedroom in their home and walk out the back door carrying a carpet shampooer. The suspect was described as stocky and wearing baggie clothing. The female resident’s 29 year old husband found the suspect at 15th Avenue East & 5th Street. The suspect was identified as Jason William Arndt, a 34 year old male resident of Duluth. Arndt was riding the husband’s bike which was stolen from the basement and also had other stolen items from the house in his possession.
After follow-up investigation officers were able to determine more stolen items in Arndt’s possession were taken in a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 1800 block of East 6th Street.
Jason Arndt has the following convictions in Minnesota:
2013 – Disorderly Conduct
2012 – Felony Domestic Assault
2011 – Theft of Motor Vehicle, False Information to Police
2009 – Felony Domestic Assault, Tamper with a Motor Vehicle and False Information to Police
2008 – Fleeing a Police Officer
2007 – Felony Escape from Custody, 3 separate convictions for Violation of Order for Protection
2006 – Felony Domestic Assault, 5th Degree Assault
2005 – Criminal Damage to Property, Disorderly Conduct
Jason Arndt was brought to the Saint Louis County Jail and he has been formally charged for 1st Degree Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Gross Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Property, Terroristic Threats, Obstructing Legal Process With Out Force, Tamper with a Motor Vehicle and Misdemeanor Theft.
