Grand Opening of the Mission Creek Trail System at Chambers Grove this Friday, 12:30 p.m.

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth, Cyclists of Gitchee Gummee Shores (COGGS), and IMBA have successfully completed construction of Phase One of the Duluth Traverse Trail System. This project consists of six miles of professionally built multi-use trail in the Mission Creek area and 3.5 miles in Lester Park.

To celebrate this milestone, there will be a Grand Opening for the Mission Creek Trail System at Chambers Grove in the Fond Du Lac neighborhood on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and help commemorate this substantial step forward in the completion of the 100 mile Duluth Traverse Trail System.

This trail system was funded through the Parks and Trails Fund from the Minnesota Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, which awarded the City of Duluth a $250,000 grant request to build multi-use trail in Mission Creek and Lester Park. The City of Duluth, COGGS, Bikes Belong and IMBA also matched trail construction funding of Phase One.

This weekend is also the Kraus Anderson Bike Duluth Festival, an inaugural race which will be held on the newly constructed Mission Creek Trail System on August 17th.
