The Duluth Police Department has recently been notified of a scam involving text messages sent from 218390039@Verizon.com stating to Contact Northern Communities CU – Call (865) 935-9538. Parties attempt to obtain or verify personal or financial information from the victims over the phone.
The Duluth Police Department would like to remind citizens to NOT provide ANY personal or financial information by phone. Most financial institutions will not call you and request this type of information from you. If you feel you are the victim of a scam, contact local law enforcement and in some cases you may file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at Consumer.FTC.gov
