USS Duluth anchor to be installed August 19 along Lakewalk

 

[Duluth, MN] - The 12 ton anchor from the USS Duluth naval ship will soon rest along the Lakewalk trail memorializing the decommissioned ship's service and the brave individuals who served on board. The anchor has been sandblasted and repainted and will be ready for public display.

Large equipment will be installed on the Lakewalk in order to move the anchor into its final position. Barriers will be in place along the Lakewalk on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 starting at 6:00 AM until about 11:00 AM from Endion Station to the Korean Memorial. The public will not have access to that portion of the Lakewalk during this period of time. Superior Street should be used as an alternate route to reconnect to the other portions of the Lakewalk during this time period.  

A celebration is being planned for a later date after the intallation. The City thanks the public for their patience.
