Chester Bowl Park, near the playground

[Duluth, MN] - Join Mayor Don Ness, North Country Trail Association representatives, and community members on a hike on august 21, 2014 to kick start the Minnesota Hiking Celebration, a series of events aimed at motivating people to explore the beautiful trails right in the back yards of Duluth neighborhoods. The public is invited to participate in this .9 mile hike from the Chester Bowl playground area and finish at Burrito Union for some refreshments.

Participants will meet at Chester Bowl at 1:00 PM to hear brief opening remarks from Mayor Ness, members of the North Country Trail Association Hiking Committee, Dave Schaeffer with the Chester Bowl Improvement Club, and others. Following the brief comments, Mayor Ness will lead the group on the hike along the Superior Hiking Trail that hugs along Chester Creek.

The full event agenda in addition to other scheduled events are available at this web link:

The public is reminded that there is ongoing road and bridge construction along Skyline Parkway, just west of the Chester Bowl park entrance. Access is open from the east using Chester Park Drive or Kent Road. In addition, there will be heavy equipment in the park as part of the Chester Ski Jump removal process.
