SUBJECT: Lift Bridge to resume nighttime closure schedule on January 19

The Aerial Lift Bridge rehabilitation project will resume temporary nighttime closures from January 19, 2010, through January 23, 2010. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. and from 3:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. during this closure period. The bridge will be opened to vehicular traffic from 3:00 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. to clear any waiting traffic.
Nighttime closures will again resume from January 25, 2010, through January 29, 2010 under a different vehicular traffic clearing schedule. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. during this closure period. The bridge will be opened to vehicular traffic on the hour (2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m., and 5:00 a.m.,) to clear any waiting traffic.
Winter work will also result in occasional single-lane vehicle traffic over the bridge. Stop signal lights will be utilized at each end of the bridge to facilitate the one-way traffic.
These closures are necessary to continue setup of the scaffold and platform system which is to be used in the upcoming repainting of the bridge towers and repair of structural steel elements.
