On Friday, October 24th, 2014 Duluth Police Investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force conducted a search warrant at Christ Temple Church located at 330 N 59th Avenue West. During the search warrant, investigators located 10.6 grams of crack cocaine inside the church where the 46 year old male suspect Talib Abdulhaqq Shabazz resides. Investigators also located an additional quantity of crack cocaine in Shabazz’s vehicle.
Shabazz’s criminal record revealed 14 previous felony convictions which include 5 convictions for sale of cocaine. Shabazz also has arrest and convictions out of Illinois. Shabazz is currently on Supervised Release from the Department of Corrections, and a hold has been placed on him relative to his parole violation. Shabazz was just released from prison on August 19, 2014.
If convicted of this offense, Shabazz is facing the statutory maximum sentence of 40 years.
Shabazz is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail on 2nd degree possession of a controlled substance.
