Duluth Police Department K-9 Unit awarded K-9 vests through nationwide non profit.

The Duluth Police Department’s K-9 partners Malakai and Oakley have been awarded ballistic vests thanks to a nonprofit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.  Over $11,500 rose to protect Minnesota K9s with bullet and stab protective vests.

CaJah Salon in St. Paul hosted an Annual benefit for Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. on September 27th raising over $ 11,500.00 that will outfit 12 Minnesota K9’s with ballistic vests.  The four Ramsey County Sheriff K9’s receiving vests from the proceeds are Vito, Tonto, Boone, and Apache.  Additional vest recipients are: K9 Bosco, Farmington Police, K9 Yankee, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Yazz, Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Britt, Rochester Police, and K9 Freddie, Stearns County Sheriff.

The Van Sloun Foundation made a donation to the nonprofit for $1900.00 for K9’s Malakie and Oakley of the Duluth Police Department.
