At 12:42 pm, on Tuesday Jan 6th, 2015, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a call of an attic fire at 2973 Exeter St in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The captain from the first arriving fire apparatus reported smoke coming from the roof line. The crew entered the house and found light smoke in the upstairs apartment. The fire was quickly knocked down and the ceiling was opened up. Fire was located along the attic joists and within the attic insulation. The insulation was removed and hot spots extinguished.
20 firefighters responded from Downtown, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley Fire Stations.
Three apartments were occupied at the time of the fire, with only one apartment currently uninhabitable. There were no injuries to firefighters or house occupants.
Damage is estimated in excess of $18,000.00
The cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical wiring.
