INCIDENT TIME: 6:21 a.m.
INCIDENT LOCATION: Area of 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Street
On Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at 6:21 a.m. Duluth Police responded to a medical call
near 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Street. Gold Cross Ambulance and Duluth Fire personnel
were on scene and informed officers of a deceased 33 year old male with a head injury.
Police determined that the deceased male had been assaulted by 53 year old, James
Joseph Strappe. Strappe and the victim were acquainted with each other.
Strappe was lodged on 2nd Degree Unintentional Homicide at the St. Louis County Jail.
No further information is available at this time due to an ongoing investigation.
Update:
The 33 year old male victim of the assault has been identified as Matthew Dave Walker of
Duluth. No other information is available at this time.
