INCIDENT LOCATION: 1st Avenue East and 3rd Street Duluth Area
Five men have been arrested on various narcotics and weapons violations, following an investigation by the Duluth Police Department and Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force
On Friday, January 30, 2015, at 4:08 a.m., Investigators aided by the Duluth Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of 1st Avenue East and 3rd Street. During the search, they found firearms, heroin and methamphetamine. Three males were arrested at this location on probable cause for the following charges.
Derek John Salvhus, 26 year old male for possession of a sawed off shotgun, aid and abet controlled substance sales
Daniel Miguel Rush, 40 year old male felon in possession of firearm and possession of a sawed off shotgun
Brian Keith Garnes, 42 year old male for aiding and abet controlled substance sale.
Using information gained from the first search warrant, investigators were able to obtain and execute a second search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Upham Road. Nineteen grams of heroin were located at the residence. An additional 30 grams of heroin were seized from a male who was observed leaving the residence and was arrested.
Nathan Labronze James, 26 year old male for 1st Degree Possession of a controlled substance
The investigation continued with a search of a residence in the 800 block of Upham Road, at which investigators found a handgun and arrested a fifth male.
Anthony Newell Blunt, 32 year old male for Possession of a sawed of shotgun
All five individuals were transported to the St. Louis County Jail.
The Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force will continue to investigate this case.
