At 3:33 P.M. on Wednesday February 18th, 2015, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a house full of smoke. When the initial fire rig arrived, nothing was visible from the street, but upon entry to the structure, smoke was visible down to the floor level, on the main floor. Two Engine quickly started their fire attack, and found heavy smoke and flames starting to intensify. Additional fire crews entered the house to assist in fire attack and the search for possible trapped occupants. The fire was quickly brought under control, nobody was home at the time of the fire and all residents were accounted for. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours searching for and extinguishing hidden hot spots. Twenty Duluth firefighters responded to this fire and there were no injuries. There was extensive fire, smoke and water damage throughout the home. The Fire Department was assisted by the Duluth Police Department, Public works and Gold Cross Ambulance. The Duluth Fire Marshal's office investigated the fire and believe electrical issues to be the cause of the fire, they are continuing to investigate this fire. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $80,000.
