Duluth Fire and Police responded to a structure fire at 24 ½ East 5th Street today at 11:22 A.M. One person was found in the front doorway by neighbors and restrained by the neighbors and firefighters until police arrived. That person was in a crisis and taken to St Luke’s hospital for evaluation. The first arriving engine company found heavy smoke visible from the rear of the structure and the fire had advanced to the interior and traveled to the second story of the house. Crews stretched hand lines to the first and second floors to extinguish the fire.  None of the 20 firefighters who responded to the fire were injured.  Damage is estimated in excess of $65,000.00 and is uninhabitable at this time.
