Media Advisory: Mayor Ness to Join Nationwide Effort to Recognize Impact of National Service and Celebrate National Volunteer Week
[Duluth]– On Monday, April 13, 2015, from 12:00-1:00 pm, Duluth Mayor Don Ness will celebrate the 3rd Annual Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service. Duluth is one of over 1,500 cities nationwide hosting events to honor and recognize the contributions of our national service members.
All national service members and site supervisors, as well as those who help run our local national service programs, are invited to attend the informal reception in the Mayor's Reception Room. Cake will served as the Mayor and other City staff will be on hand to thank members for their contributions to our community.

In addition, April 12-18 is National Volunteer Week. Every year, United Way of Greater Duluth distributes nearly 3,000 purple ribbons to volunteers in the Duluth area. In coordination with the Purple Ribbon campaign, Mayor Ness is pleased to invite community volunteers to the reception to recognize their positive impacts in Duluth.
