Temporary Street Closures Planned in Downtown Duluth

 

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public about two upcoming temporary street closures in downtown Duluth. As the work on the new Duluth Transit Authority Multimodal Transportation Center progresses, the temporary staircase located at 3rd Ave West and Michigan Street will need to be deconstructed and removed. Crews will be closing off Michigan Street between 3rd and 2nd Ave West all day on Friday, June 26, 2015.

A second closure is planned along the westbound lane of Superior Street, between 3rd and 2nd Ave East, on Monday, June 29 outside of the Greysolon Plaza. A crane will be in place around 3:00 a.m. to install the new overhang on the building. The previous overhang collapsed in December 2013.  All west bound traffic on Superior Street will be detoured up to 1st Street. East bound Superior Street traffic will not be affected. The project is expected to take 4 hours. The plan is to have the crane removed from Superior Street by 7:00 a.m.
