LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES LAUNCH INTERNET CRIME MAPPING INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE PUBLIC SAFETY

Latest Technology plots crimes and displays info to public on-line

The Northeast Law Enforcement Administrator’s Council (NLEAC), an association made up of nearly forty local law enforcement agencies, holds a news conference to launch its new, cooperative Internet crime mapping initiative aimed at reducing crime across the Northland.

Thanks to federal grant dollars, the NLEAC is now a subscriber of crimemapping.com, a web based program that’s plotting and displaying crime activity in more than two-dozen northeastern Minnesota communities. The website tracks crimes by date, time, type and location (street address).

A live demonstration of crimemapping.com will take place during the news conference.
