Road and Utility Projects Slated to Start Next Week in Duluth
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth is informing the public about several upcoming road and utility projects. With such a short window for construction season, the City is hoping to captilize on the good weather and work on additional projects to ensure the prolonged endurance of our city infrastructure.
Starting Monday, July 13, 2015, Superior Street will be closed between 5th Avenue West and 4th Avenue West for one week. New utility service lines are being installed to the new maurices Headquarters. Detours will be posted.
Also starting Monday, July 13, about 80 feet of one driving lane, the parking lane, and the sidewalk on the south side of 1st Street will be closed between 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West. Work is being done on the Holiday Center. The project is expected to last two weeks. One lane of traffic will be open at all times as well as the sidewalk on the north side of 1st Street.

A contractor will begin working on the MacFarlane Road box culvert (at Chester Creek) the week of July 20th. The project will require a road closure which would take place the last week of July or the first week of August. The project is expected to be completed in mid-October.
There is a project tentatively scheduled to start July 20, 2015 on 4th Street. The street will be closed between 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West for construction related to the Center for American Indian Resources. The work is expected to take three days. Street parking will not be allowed in the project area.
The public is encouraged to learn more about road and utility projects using the Duluth Progress website.
