Bridge Demolition to Take Place by West Skyline Parkway,

Motorists May Experience Temporary Road Closures

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing motorists and residents of a deconstruction project of the former DWP railroad bridge taking place this week. A contractor will be demolishing the DWP railroad bridge, which crosses over West Skyline Parkway north of the Becks Road intersection, and will need to limit traffic access in the area at various times of the day on September 17, 18, and 21, 2015. Because of the hazards associated with the bridge demolition the contractor may need to close Skyline Parkway to through traffic at the existing bridge site between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm for up to 3 days.  This daytime closure is scheduled to occur on:

Thursday September 17th, 8 am to 3:30 pm

Friday September 18th, 8 am to 3:30 pm

Monday September 21st, 8 am to 3:30 pm

During the above time periods, motorists will be able to travel Skyline Parkway on either side of the bridge site but will not be able to drive through the bridge site.  Signs will be posted at each end of Skyline Parkway notifying of the closure when the closure is in place.  If the contractor is able to accomplish the work in shorter time frame, all of the closures will not be used and the signs will not be in place.

During other periods of the work the Contractor will be maintaining vehicle access through the work site through use of signage and flaggers as necessary. Motorists are requested to travel slowly and use caution when traveling through the work site.
