INCIDENT LOCATION:

Earlier today, September 30, 2015, the Duluth Fire Department received a donation of 5,000 blankets, valued at $103, 983, from the Firefighters Support Services out of Wyandotte Michigan.

The purpose of Firefighters Support Services Inc. is to provide charitable support services to firefighters and paramedics through donations of safety equipment, other equipment, supplies and services and to engage in any lawful activities in furtherance of that purpose. The organization also supports children and other burn and fire victims with monetary donations, goods and services.

Firefighters are often on the front lines with folks in dire need, faced with a variety of circumstances. It is our intent to distribute each of these new, and warm blankets to an individual in need, whether it be from losing their possessions in a fire, or an individual faced with living on the street. We fully intend to put each one of these donated blankets to good use in a community across Minnesota.

The Duluth Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to the following for their role in helping make this donation possible:

·         Firefighters Support Services Inc.

·         Lake Superior College

o   Donated a large semi-trailer to store the blankets until distributed

·         McGough Construction (General Contractor on the Maurice’s Building)

o   Donated a large forklift and an operator to facilitate unloading of the blankets

Any questions can be directed to Captain Lisa Consie at 218-730-4400.
