Portion of Michigan Street to be closed due to electrical work
Michigan Street between 5th Ave W and 6th Ave W in downtown Duluth will be closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, so Minnesota Power can perform electrical work related to the underground feeder lines that serve the Canal Park area.
Minnesota Power expects the work to be completed by Friday, October 30th. During the closure, 6th Ave W between Michigan Street and Superior Street will temporarily become a two-way street, and traffic will be re-routed to Superior Street. In order to accommodate the two-way traffic, temporary four-way stop signs will be installed at 6th Ave W & Superior Street. Sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians to the Depot, the adjacent Depot parking lot, and the Duluth Public Library.
For phase 2 and 3 of the project, 5th Ave W will be closed on the weekends and traffic will be directed to the signed detour on Railroad Street.
If you would like more information on this project or to schedule an interview, please contact Amy Rutledge with MN Power at 218-723-7400.

DTA Announces Road Closure and Detour due to Signalization Installation for Duluth Transit Center (DTC)
The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) is announcing a detour along Michigan Street beginning on Monday, October 12, 2015. Michigan Street will be closed between 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West, including the intersection at 3rd Avenue West and Michigan Street. This is being done to facilitate signal and road work within the area.
During these closures, there will be two-way traffic on Michigan Street between 3rd Avenue West and 4th Avenue West to accommodate access to the parking lots located along that section of Michigan Street and allow for deliveries and local access. These closures and detour will last for less than three weeks.
