On Thursday, October 8th, 2015 UMD will host their annual Homecoming Parade on Superior Street in Downtown Duluth. The parade floats and bands will lineup on Michigan Street and at 6:00 p.m. proceed up 1st Avenue West, then west on Superior Street to 4th Avenue West.  The parade will disband on Superior Street between 4th  Avenue West  and  5th  Avenue West, with Bands taking 4th  Avenue West  down to Michigan Street to waiting buses , and Floats continuing West on Superior Street to disband between 4th  and 5th  Avenue West.

Road Closures:


At 4:00 p.m., all eastbound traffic on Michigan Street will be diverted at 1st Avenue West as Parade floats line up between 1st Avenue West and 1st Avenue East.  Parade Units will take1st Avenue East down to Michigan Street and will be allowed westbound on Michigan Street to lineup.  
At 5:00 p.m. the 5th Avenue West exit ramp from southbound I-35 will also be closed, the exit Ramp to Lake Avenue will remain open.
At 5:30 p.m., Superior Street closes to traffic from 1st Avenue West to 5th Avenue West.   Michigan Street will also be closed to vehicle traffic at 5th Avenue West.


No Parking:


The parade route on Superior Street, part of Michigan Street, 1st Avenue West and 1st Avenue East between Michigan Street and Superior Street will be posted no parking after 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.  Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed.


DTA:


Eastbound buses will use 2nd Street to Lake Avenue, down Lake Avenue to Superior Street, and regular routes. Westbound DTA buses will run regular routes on Superior Street and Lake Avenue; then Lake Avenue up to 1st Street to 5th Avenue West.    
Drivers are urged to use caution when driving the area of this event watching for pedestrians, other motorists, parade participants, watch for road barricades, and no parking areas.
