INCIDENT LOCATION: 200 Block of East #5 Alley
On Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 4:19 p.m., Duluth Police Department arrested Philbert Nathanial Barnes, age 39 of Duluth, in the murder of Curtis Michael Cooney, age 22, and the attempted murder of Ephriam Darell Burks, age 21. Barnes was arrested at 3712 Grand Avenue in Duluth. Barnes has been lodged at the St. Louis County Jail and charged with Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder.
The Duluth Police Department will not be releasing any additional information on this pending the formal complaint being filed by the St. Louis County Attorney's Office.
