Female arrested in stabbing
On Thursday, March 4th, 2010, at 5:40 pm, Duluth Police investigated the report of a stabbing in the 300 block of North 54th Avenue West. A female caller stated that she had just stabbed another female after they had an altercation and that the victim was out in the hallway of the apartment complex. The caller stated that she had stabbed the female twice.
Police arrived and located both parties involved. The victim, Cassandra Jaye Wright, age 20, was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center where she is currently in stable condition. Wright suffered one stab wound under the left breast, one to the left shoulder blade, and one to the left upper arm. The stab wounds are non life threatening.
The suspect, Shayna Lee Hill, age 20 and of Duluth, was later lodged at the St. Louis County Jail pending formal charges for Second Degree Assault.
Police learned that Hill and Wright had been exchanging text messages which led to the physical altercation. It is not clear if the initial physical altercation took place inside one of the apartments or in the apartment’s entryway. Police did locate the knife used in the stabbing.
