Projects will alter travel on Duluth roads next week

[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth is informing the public of some projects that will affect travel in a few Duluth neighborhoods  next week. The projects vary in scope but will change commute patterns and in some cases, require people to use detours.The roads impacted are:

Kenwood Avenue (Kenwood Village Apartments):  New utility connections are necessary to support the construction of the new apartment/retail development on Kenwood Ave. Starting Monday, November 30, 2015 travel on Kenwood Avenue (between Toledo St. and St. Benedict St.) will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The contractor will start by working on the east bound lane. Once the east bound lane is completed, crews will redirect their focus to the west bound lane and change traffic controls accordingly. Work is anticipated to be a minimum of one week in duration. In addition, the preparation of the site has resulted in temporary closure of a short stretch of the sidewalk along Arrowhead Road, as you head south to the corner of Kenwood Ave, to allow for entry and exit of large equipment onto the construction site. 

Motorists may experience delays and should plan additional travel time to reach their destination.

10^th Ave East:  Additional follow up utility work is required on 10^th Ave East requiring the closure of the road between Superior Street and First Street on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 1 and 2. Motorists will need to follow detour signs.

East 4^th Street water main project: As a reminder, the water main project on East 4^th Street will wrap up over the next week and a half with paving and clean up. In the meantime, this will require complete closure of the road between 14^th and 16^th Ave East. Access to homes, parking and businesses is available on the avenues.
