Wayne Parson selected as Duluth's Chief Financial Officer

[Duluth, MN] – Wayne Parson, the current City Auditor for the City of Duluth, has been selected by Mayor Emily Larson to be Duluth’s Chief Financial Officer.

“I am honored to serve the City of Duluth in this new role. I enjoy and look forward to working hard to solve problems and meet challenges,” said Wayne Parson. “I feel privileged to serve the citizens of Duluth.”

Mr. Parson has worked for the City of Duluth May 2005 when he began as a City Auditor. Parson has been part of the City’s finance team for 10 years. Parson graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1981 with a Bachelor of Accounting Degree.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

The selection of the Chief Financial Officer was undertaken in early 2015 as part of an open hiring process. After taking office, Mayor Emily Larson made the final determination for this official appointment.

“Wayne is the right choice. He brings a deep commitment to ensuring smooth and efficient city operations and is already bringing forward new ideas to help Duluth continue our path of growth and prosperity,” said Mayor Emily Larson.   

Mr. Parson’s name will be submitted to the Duluth City Council for approval at their January 25 meeting.
