AFSCME Workers Tonight Approve City of Duluth Contract
Members of the Basic Unit of AFSCME Local 66, more than 450 members who work for the City of Duluth, tonight overwhelmingly voted to approve a new contract for the coming year.
“Our membership voted to accept this contract tonight, which is a step in the direction of building respect and dignity for city workers,” said Jim Dreier, negotiating team chairperson of AFSCME Local 66, City of Duluth Basic Unit. “It is a move towards equality with all the other units within the city, and keeps our quality services to the citizens of Duluth going forward.”
“We are pleased that with tonight’s vote, AFSCME members have accepted a contract that’s consistent with what the Police, Confidential and Supervisory unions had already approved for the coming year,” said Mayor Don Ness. “This is great news for Duluth taxpayers, who will continue to receive the excellent city services that AFSCME members provide for the community.”
