Duluth Libraries to undertake strategic planning process,
public input needed on services and programs
[Duluth, MN] – The Duluth Public Library is interested in hearing from the community. As part of a new strategic planning process, the community is encouraged to complete a survey, online or in paper form, addressing current and potential services and programming. The results will help inform the Library staff and Board as to how customers use the library system, their needs, and opportunities for growth or program modifications to improve the future of the library system. The survey will be available until April 13, 2016.
“Libraries are the backbone of communities. They provide creative public programs, offer equal opportunity mental recreation, and engages the community in a welcoming place. As an avid library patron, I look forward to championing a healthy, robust library system with the public’s input and support. Though discussions about brick and mortar are important and pertinent, when it comes to our libraries, people have to come first. This planning process will help us better identify what services customers need or want and how we meet those needs into the future. We make it a priority to invest in recreation and park spaces for physical enjoyment; equally important are libraries that serve to deepen our intellectual curiosity. I encourage all community members to complete the survey and let their voices be heard,” said Mayor Emily Larson.
The survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DPLSurvey and takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Those individuals who prefer to fill it out on paper can pick up a printed copy at any library location. Compiled results will be shared at a planning retreat with community stakeholders on April 16 with the goal of finalizing a five year Duluth Public Library strategic plan for Council approval this summer.
