Public Invited to Mayor Emily Larson’s “Forward Together” State of City Address on April 27

[Duluth, MN] - Mayor Emily Larson will deliver her first State of the City Address on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 reporting on her first 100 days in office and laying out her vision of moving forward together as a community.

“Thanks to a great team, I’ve hit the ground running doubling investments in streets for 2016, launching an Energy Plan, leading the hiring of our next Police and Fire Chiefs, elevating and expanding the Human Rights Office, and advocating for our Steam Plant and Zoo projects this bonding cycle,” said Larson.

“We’ve been out talking with residents and community leaders, engaging city staff, businesses, unions and non-profits, listening to their concerns and exciting ideas. Together we’ve been shaping Duluth’s next chapter. It’s clear the City has a role as both leader and community partner moving forward,” she added.

The State of the City address will be held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, Harborside Ballroom. The doors open at 5:45 PM and the official program begins at 6:15 PM with welcome remarks from Council President Zack Filipovich. Mayor Larson will commence her speech at 6:30 PM with live coverage provided by the Northlands NewsCenter on My9.

Mayor Larson committed to holding the State of the City 100 days after taking office to lay out her vision for moving Duluth forward with a focus on inclusion, collaboration, and fairness for all neighbors, across all neighborhoods.

“We’re excited to share what we’ve been hearing and our vision for our community,” Mayor Larson said.  “The State of the City should be a community event with both reflection and celebration.  We want this to be the most inclusive, diverse State of the City address yet.”

“I invite people to come together, reflect together, and work together to make the city we love even better,” she added.

The State of the City is a free event open to the entire community.
