Downtown skywalk painting project to take place April 19-22
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public of some upcoming work on two skywalks that will impact some travelers in downtown Duluth around the intersection of 4th Ave West and Superior Street. Starting April 19th through April 22nd, there will be lane closures near the intersection as a contractor will be painting the exterior of the two skywalks that connect to the new maurices Headquarters starting on Tuesday, April 19. They will be painting the west side of the 4th Ave W skywalk first necessitating the closure of the southbound 4th Ave lanes. Traffic will be shifted and allowed to travel in both directions using the north bound lanes. The work will then switch to the east side of the skywalk on Wednesday with traffic shifting to the southbound lanes. The jersey barriers will be removed as painting concludes.
As painting commences Tuesday on the 4th Ave skywalk, painting will also take place on the skywalk that crosses over Superior Street. On Friday, two-way traffic will be maintained on the south side of Superior Street as painting wraps up.
Some on street parking spaces will be marked as no parking due to the location of equipment and lane shifts. Motorists traveling through this area should plan for additional travel time.
