[Duluth, MN] - Duluth Mayor Emily Larson invites the public to two upcoming community events this week: the State of the City Address and a community forum with Duluth Police Chief candidates Mike Tusken and Brian Kozak.

State of the City:

Mayor Larson will deliver her "Forward Together: State of the City Address" and share her vision for Duluth on April 27. Doors open at 5:45 pm with music by Maddy Siiter; welcome remarks by Councilor Zack Filipovich at 6:15 pm; and the Mayor's speech at 6:30 PM. This free event will be held at the DECC, Harborside Ballroom with free parking provided courtesy of the DECC. The speech will be broadcast live in partnership with the Northlands NewsCenter on My9. Mayor Larson will also recognize a City staff with the Clarence Maddy award for outstanding public service. The entire program will be taped and made available on the City's webpage, www.duluthmn.gov, the day after the event.

Police Chief Candidate Community Forum:

The Duluth community is invited to meet and ask questions of the two Duluth Police Chief finalists, Mike Tusken and Brian Kozak, at a public forum on Thursday, April 28th at Lincoln Park Middle School auditorium, 3215 West Third Street, accessible from Lincoln Park Middle School Drive off West 3rd Street. This community forum is part of the public process laid out by Mayor Larson to help select Duluth's next Police Chief. The Mayor will announce the appointment in early May with a resolution going to Council for final approval thereafter. The forum starts at 6:30 PM with welcome remarks from Mayor Larson and moderated by Rob Karwath of North Coast Communications.

Free DTA shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes from Wheeler Field on Grand Ave to the school. The shuttle will start at 5:45 pm and run until 6:45 pm. The departure shuttles from the school will start at 8:00 pm and run every 10 minutes down to Wheeler Field.
