Duluth Indigenous Commission to Present Ethnographic Study
[Duluth, MN] - The Duluth Indigenous Commission members will be presenting the findings of an ethnographic study to the Duluth City Council at a Committee of the Whole on May 9, 2016 at 6 PM in the 3rd Floor Council Chambers, City Hall, 411 West First Street. The Indigenous Commission worked with Turnstone Historical Research on the Ethnographic Study of Indigenous Contributions to the City of Duluth to help educate and disseminate the historical and cultural contributions of the indigenous community to the residents of Duluth. The study is available for review on the City’s website at

The Indigenous Commission (previously known as the American Indian Commission) works to ensure that the views of the Indigenous Community are incorporated in the decision-making, future planning, and stewardship of the city of Duluth; it endeavors to act as a guide in the development of public policy, planning and services so that the Indigenous Community is adequately represented in these processes and also works to increase understanding and acceptance of the Indigenous Community and culture.
