Duluth Police Department Deploys Narcan Kits to Combat Opioid Overdoses

In response to the growing concerns over opioid overdoses in the area, the Duluth Police Department sought and has received 100 Narcan (Naloxone) Kits for patrol officers. The kits were obtained thanks to a grant submitted by the Arrowhead EMS Association. ALL DPD patrol crews have now been trained regarding: what are opioids; how to recognize an opioid overdose situation and how to effectively use the Narcan kits.

Over the past three years the region has seen a dramatic increase in opioid related overdose calls. The use of these kits has proven to be very successful throughout the country, including here. Thousands of lives have been saved by kits like these.
