Update on Water main project on Arrowhead Road at Kenwood Ave

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public of a recent change to the water main upgrade project on Arrowhead Road at Kenwood Avenue in the Kenwood neighborhood. The project is necessary to ensure adequate water service due to the aged water main system and to accommodate new developments and the surrounding neighborhood. Utilities workers commenced the project on Kenwood Ave this morning (May 16) but had to cut a larger area of the road pavement than expected to access utilities. Therefore, the northbound lane of Kenwood Ave (from Cleveland Street to Arrowhead Road) had to be temporarily closed to ensure a safe buffer between workers and traffic. Only southbound travel is open to motorists at this time.

Motorists headed north on Kenwood Ave will be rerouted to take College Street to Junction Ave or Buffalo Street then connect to Arrowhead Road to head west. Workers are hoping to expedite this work to reopen northbound traffic on Kenwood Ave by next week.

As a reminder, Arrowhead Road between Kenwood Avenue and Dodge is closed to east bound traffic. The west bound lanes are open to traffic.

DTA buses are using temporary bus stops along Buffalo St. and Brainerd Street.

Access to the Kenwood area businesses is available at Cleveland St. off of Kenwood Ave or Dodge St. off of Arrowhead Road.
