City to conduct Community Needs Assessment - Public input needed
[Duluth, MN] - Each year, the City of Duluth Community Planning Division collects input from community members about housing, public services, and economic development issues. The City disperses federal community development funds annually to assist community members in meeting basic needs, get access to affordable housing, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. Community members’ experiences and opinions help determine community development needs and help guide funding recommendations.
The Community Planning Division invites community members to share their experiences and concerns by taking a short online survey at bit.ly/DuluthCommunityPlanning by June 3, 2016. In addition, the community is also invited to attend a Neighborhood Forum on Tuesday, May 24th, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the Harrison Community Center, 3002 W. Third Street, Duluth, (located on bus routes 1, 2, & 3). At the forum, Community Planning Staff and Community Development (CD) Committee members will facilitate small group conversations with community members to gain a deeper understanding of the most pressing community needs.
The information that community members share in the survey and at the Neighborhood Forum will help the CD Committee decide which types of community development projects or programs are most needed by the community. Local non-profit organizations apply to the Community Development Program requesting federal funds for their projects. The CD Committee utilizes the community assessment feedback as they review applications and make funding recommendations to the City Council.
Questions can be directed to Adam Fulton, Community Planning Manager, at (218) 730-5325, or afulton@duluthmn.gov
