INCIDENT LOCATION: 6600 block of Cody Street Duluth
On Wednesday, June 15th, 2016, at 4:39 p.m. Duluth Police and the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force arrested 32 year old Johnny Peralez of Sacramento, California after observing Peralez walk out of a residence in Gary and entered a stolen BMW. He was carrying a pink Nike bag which he placed in the vehicle prior to driving away. Investigators followed the vehicle which ended up on a dead end street in West Duluth. Peralez exited the vehicle with the pink Nike bag and fled on foot after investigators gave repeated instructions to stop. Peralez threw the bag while he ran that was recovered by the investigators. Investigators searched the bag and located 224 grams of methamphetamine. Peralez was taken to jail and has been criminally charged in St. Louis District Court for 1st degree possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree possession of 25 grams or more of methamphetamine, felony receiving stolen property, fleeing on foot, and obstructing legal process.
