Minnesota Slip Bridge pinned in up position due to wind conditions

[Duluth, MN] - Due to the high winds from the southwest, the Minnesota Slip Bridge (blue pedestrian bridge in Canal Park) will be pinned in the up position until the wind subsides. These winds tend to cause inadvertent lifting of the panels and can create problems with the cable system that lifts the Bridge.

Access between the DECC and Canal Park businesses is available taking Lake Drive. The City thanks the public for their patience.

The City has contracted with an engineering firm to look at a more permanent fix to the machinery of the Bridge to improve operations and maintain consistent public access. Those designs will be completed later this year with the retrofit potentially taking place over the winter.
