INCIDENT LOCATION: Duluth Area

On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016, neighborhoods throughout Duluth are being invited to join

forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 33rd Annual National Night Out

(NNO) Crime and Drug Prevention Event. National Night Out is sponsored by the

National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Duluth Police

Department.

Last year in 2015, Duluth Police Department registered more than 53 block parties with

many more “unofficial” gatherings at the National Night Out Event and there were over

37.8 million neighbors across 16,124 communities celebrated National Night Out.

National Night Out is a cohesive effort to promote involvement in crime prevention

activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message

to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

In Duluth, this event is always well received throughout the community and among

officers themselves. It’s an opportunity for the community to gather and connect with the

officers who work in their neighborhoods to strengthen relationships and ban together to

fight crime.

Neighborhoods throughout Duluth will be hosting a variety of events such as block

parties, cookouts, and visits from police officers, youth activities and anti-crime rallies.

This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and

neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of

police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation.

If you would like to host a National Night Out Event in Duluth, REGISTRATION IS

STILL OPEN. To register email Pam Kleinschmidt at pkleinschmidt@duluthmn.gov
