Superior Street Reconstruction Open House is August 23

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth invites the public to an open house on August 23, 2016 at 4:30 PM to learn more about the latest design for reconstruction of Superior Street in downtown Duluth. City staff and consultants will present final designs, the most current utility designs and a specially created 3-D virtual image of the streetscape. The open house will be held at the Radisson Hotel, Great Hall, 505 West Superior Street. The meeting is open to the public.

The open house starts at 4:30 PM, with a program scheduled for 5:00 PM.

The City of Duluth is awaiting a decision as to whether there will be a legislative session. Mayor Emily Larson stated last month that "We are optimistic that a special session will be called by the governor during August, and that our project will be a part of that bill. In the meantime, we continue to move ahead as if construction will be taking place - we have engineers working to design the project, and we are making financial commitments as a City to reflect our own commitment to move ahead."

"Should a special session not happen this year, we will put the project on temporary hold in hopes of future bonding. We are committed to being good stewards of resources and do not intend to tear up the street twice: once for reconstruction, once for utilities," said Mayor Larson.
