SUBJECT: Male Arrested on Drug Charges after Fleeing Police

On August 30, 2016, a little after midnight, Duluth Police, investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, MN State Patrol, Proctor Police, Carlton County Sheriff’s Department, Fond du Lac Police Superior Police, Specifically their K-9, and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29 year old Joe Brown of Redwing MN after investigators conducted surveillance of a male who is known as "Joe" who was actively selling heroin out of a hotel in Carlton County. The male was seen inside of a vehicle in the parking lot and was seen meeting individuals inside of the vehicle. Investigators observed several hand to hand transactions taking place in the motor vehicle. Brown and another female exited the hotel parking lot from the main entrance. Law enforcement assisting attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver fled in the vehicle North on I 35. The driver drove several miles at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Brown fled from the vehicle which was stopped at a hotel in West Duluth. Brown was located and arrested. Brown was searched and investigators located a large amount of cash along with other evidence of drug sale. Brown was taken to jail and criminally charged is Saint Louis District Court for fleeing police in a motor vehicle, 3rd degree sale of a controlled substance and 5th degree possession of a controlled substance.
Brown has two previous convictions for controlled substance crimes in third degree sale of a controlled substance in Goodhue County District Court File Number 25-CR-05-2549 and sale of simulated controlled substance (Goodhue County District Court File Number 25-CR-12-2065).
This was great coordination between multiple agencies including MN State Patrol, Proctor Police, and Carlton County Sheriff’s Department, Fond du Lac Police, Superior Police, specifically their K-9, and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
